Elicius

ORVIETANO ROSSO D.O.C.

Only the best grapes contribute to the creation of this wine, whose name evokes the grandeur of the mighty Jupiter Elicius, an epithet that means God of lighting. Obtained from a blend of Montepulciano (locally known as Morellone) and Sagrantino grape varietals, this smooth and elegant wine is aged for 18 to 24 months in a combination of medium toasted French barrels and Slavonian oak casks, and refined at least another 24 months in bottle. Elicius is Mis en Bouteille au Château. The resulting intense dark garnet red wine, suggests enjoyable toasted aromas and intense fruited plum and cherry flavours. Elicius is suited for ageing and is ideally paired with beef stew, Umbrian sausage, or roasted red meats.

“Our favorite wine is the Elicius Castello di Montegiove, a suave and sophisticated combination of indigenous Montepulciano/Sagrantino grapes.” J.P. (Canada)

“This is an upmarket wine that could easily be drunk on its own due to its smoothness, but also develops its flavor alongside strong red meat.” S.N. (England)

“A champion in making and might, equilibrium and enological integration, a true grand cru of superior character.” L.M (Italy)
